The Talisker Expedition Oak Series is a new adventure entirely: A WHISKY SHAPED BY NATURE.
We are pleased to be introduce the Talisker Single Malt Scotch Whisky 44-Year-Old: Forests of the Deep, a whisky born of the sea and inspired by the Talisker distillery founders and brothers, Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill; siblings famed for their intrepid row from Eigg across The Cuillin Sound to Skye.
This is a whisky created as a reflection on the power and beauty of the seas, which was informed by an expedition led by Parley for the Oceans, Talisker’s partner in ocean conservation.
The series was born to celebrate wild whisky-making with a collection of rare single malt scotches that have been shaped by the natural elements - finished in casks that include staves stressed by a wilderness journey to reveal a truly rare and unique whisky, accentuated by its exposure.
A limited release, only 1997 bottles have been released from 10 marine charred casks to become Talisker's oldest and rarest whiskies to date.
Limited to 1 per customer.
Nose: Deep, dense and complex. The top notes speak of wood wreathed in fragrant smoke and rich maritime notes of seaweed, salt crystals combining with rich toffee.
Palate: A big and wonderful palate with waves of smoky richness which intensifies mid palate. A peppery warmth soon emerges embracing smooth, rich flavours.
Finish: Really long, sweet chilli pepper warmth with fragrant smoke and sweetness lingering.
