"Bottled in bond" this means that it comes from just one distiller, at one distillery, from a single year, and that it is bottled at 100 proof.

Rittenhouse have been making whiskey in their Kentucky distillery since 1934, and their process is currently overseen by master distillers Parker Beam and Craig Beam.

The brand is produced by the fan-favourite Heaven Hill company, who are renowned for their specialty American whiskeys.

Rittenhouse have won accolades for their spirits, including this rye being named "North American Whiskey of the Year" at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2006.

Nose: Soft spices linger on the nose of this one, alongside cinnamon, caramel and dried fruits.

Palate: Thick, full and fruity palate with chocolate oranges, more cinnamon with nutmeg and oak.

Finish: Tangy marmalade and spice round this finish off nicely.
