Macallan Easter Elchies Black 2020 Release - 50% 70cl

Limited release official bottling of Macallan for their Easter Elchies Series, released in 2020 - Easter Elchies Black 2020 Release, a NAS Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Traditionally, they insisted on maturing their spirit solely in the highest quality sherry casks, sourced directly from Jerez, Spain:  in fact, the Edrington Group, which owns the brand, has even invested in sherry vineyards to ensure the continuing supply of their precious oak, thus giving them the oversight they need to maintain quality.

The exclusive use of sherry casks naturally drove up the price of the resulting whisky, particularly as sherry casks have become rarer and more expensive due to the falling popularity of sherry as a drink. 

Marking the third and final release in the limited annual series of smoky style, higher strength single malt whiskies, Easter Elchies Black 2020 Release has an ABV of 50% and displays a natural colour of autumn chestnut.

It imparts aromas of smoked toffee, orange, raisin and oak spice, flavours of warming ginger and cinnamon, polished oak and smoked orange peel and has a distinctively sweet and smoky finish.

Bottled at 50% ABV, 70cl.

Nose: Smoked toffee, orange, raisin and oak spice with an aniseed and sweet ginger warmth, walnuts, and a gentle herbal note.

Palate: Warming ginger and cinnamon, polished oak, smoked orange peel and an herbal whisper.

Finish: Sweet and smoky, peat lingers with cardamom chocolate creaminess.
