Montecristo No. 2 Cigar - 1 Single

I purchased a single Monte 2 back in August 2018 and finally got around to smoking it.The flavours were phenomenal; smooth and creamy to begin with, gradually developing into a combination of almond, cedar and spice, the smoke leaving a oily finish on the lips and palette. Unfortunately the construction was definitely not up to scratch; The draw was so loose it felt like I was sucking through an empty straw, I had to double-puff regularly to get decent smoke output and it went out 3-4 times in the space of an hour if I put it down for more than just 30 seconds. In the final third the cigar finally started smoking like a chimney and the flavours really kicked it up a notch but the strength kicked up too and since Im a bit of a lightweight I had to lay the cigar down... before having a little lie down myself!

Despite all the problems I had with the Monte 2 it was still by far the most enjoyable and best tasting cigar I have had to date. On my budget the Monte 2 is by no means an everyday smoke and buying a 10/25 is unlikely, but setting aside a pack of 3 for special occasions is definitely not out of the question! The Monte 2 has really shown me why Cuban cigars hold such status, it really is in a league of its own.
