I must admit, I hadn’t realised Makers Mark had the power not only to offend your palate but to trigger a full ideological episode. Imagine sipping a wheated bourbon so smooth, so elegantly crafted, that it causes a complete psychological unravelling. Remarkable.

For most of us, a glass of Maker’s is a gentle, warming experience — toasty, mellow, with vanilla and soft spice. But in your case, it seems to have been more of an exorcism. Fascinating.
