To say I love Bolivar is an understatement. The brand has got some serious recognition of late and its possibly down to the maturity of cigars 2007 and before. I must say though, this Belicosos tasted true to the brand, and the tobacco used is almost as brilliant as those rolled prior to 2007. I spoke to Ian in Turmeaus and we both chatted about how the Bolivar brand isn't as full as we had expected, compared to the likes of Partagas. However this cigar was pretty complex for the little rippers size! First third hit me with (As above) sweet, dark cocoa notes and accompanied by a 15yo scotch was more subtle than I had expected in earthiness. Cedar notes were recognisable during the 2nd and 3rd thirds and the taste maintained smoothness, no harshness even when I poked my pipe airer through the end to nub this smoke. I really enjoyed this cigar, maybe if it was the length of a Monte 2 I'd be happier! But we can dream!
