Padron 2000 Robusto Maduro Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Sunday 20 December, 2015
cigar looked very rough, very toothy and veiny. The foot was loosely packed with stem like parts poking out. When I cut the cap it produced lots of dust and chunks that kept getting in my mouth right through the smoking. The draw was very loose. Very high smoke production which smelled lovely. Started off peppery with no other real flavours, after a few draws it became apparent that there was an very loosely packed bit running right through the center of the cigar. A little sweetness and coffee did show up for a couple of draws but was overshadowed by hot bitter taste. Tried to smoke as slow as possible but I guess the build quality totally ruined any flavours I might have got. Hopefully I just got a bad one but I won't be buying another to find out. Burn was all over the place. I thought Padron were meant to be a higher end non Cuban but it looked more on par with a Jose l Piedra.

Not a big fan of New World cigars however this one is lovely, a real 'desert' cigar with lots of dark chocolate and sweet spice. Always a very light and airy draw so helps to take it easy so as not to overheat it. Looks a bit rough to the eye but never judge a cigar by its wrapper, very consistent, will have a few of these in the humidor when I fancy something a bit sweeter.

I'm new to cigars and this is my first padron and i have to say I'm very impressed! I have been experimenting with my humidor and if you really want to enjoy this cigar it seems to like a high humidity as mine is reading around 70% and has been in there for about a week. From the start there was no crunch in the cut and a nice tight wrap and on lighting is a nice draw with a thick grey smoke with a spicy peppery kick then settled down to a smooth chocolate and coffee flavor with a hint of oak in the background the ash is tight and stacks up nicley, later on towards the end i got a hint of vanilla and marzipan which is really nice as made you feel like you have had your main meal and your now having your dessert! In all it lasted me around 45 minutes and would say it is a good all rounder and very good value for money will definitely be buying some of these again for my humidor.

Padron 2000 Robusto Maduro Cigar - 1 Single

Padron is one of my favourite New World brands from Nicaragua. I have always enjoyed the ‘2000 Maduro’ which is aged between 2½ and 3 years. Today I enjoyed a ‘1926 Series - No 9 Maduro’ which is 5 1/4" x 56 and medium to full bodied in strength from their exclusive 1926 Series range. Padron chose the best filler, binder and wrapper for these limited production cigars which are aged for 5 years prior to release. The cigar feels a bit dry but construction is perfect providing a generous quantity of smoke with every puff. Begins very sweet and earthy, with tiny notes of brown sugar, honey and a hint of pepper on the palate. The flavour develops with lovely nut, floral notes and coffee flavours with a hint of bitterness. The cigar ends with full bodied strength, very rich and classic earthy Padron flavours and pepper. This cigar is great and gorgeous. Probably one of the best New World cigars ever made. Perfect with a nice Flor the Cana 18 yo Rum in the afternoon. A very dark wrapper indeed which a rich coacoa aroma with a touch of hay. As it has a single cap I decided to use a punch to cut it. Before lighting I took a draw and was worried because there was no resitance at all and upon lighting this was also the case, it felt like a complete wind tunnel... BUT after letting it settle and taking it slowly it got better and better. Initially the burn was a bit wonky but quickly evened out and became almost razor sharp. Rich taste of earth and coffee with some pepper on the pallette to begin with, as it burns down the pepper goes and it becomes creamier and more of a milk chocolate taste. The ash holds on for well over half the cigar not wanting to drop. Over all a very nice smoke and I would be happy to buy again!

Padron 2000 Robusto Maduro Cigar - 1 Single

Padron haven't let me down yet, and while some of their range are pricey enough to qualify as 'special occasion cigars' this one represents incredible value for money and is affordable enough to be an everyday smoke. It looks great, has excellent construction, razor sharp burn and bags of flavourful, cool, creamy smoke. I would definitely recommend using a punch on this as the draw could seem a little loose to some if you use a cutter, and in my personal experience I find Padron cigars benefit from a couple of days dry boxing. For the price I can't give this cigar anything other than 5 stars.
