Padron 2000 Robusto Maduro Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Friday 28 February, 2020
So, as a fairly new member of the forums, I found this cigar to be medium strength, with a little pepper and spice in the 1st 3rd, with great draw and the burn very even and straight. The 2nd third continued in the same way, with a little more pepper, but not overly so. Now getting an aged leather and sweet wood note, a little like sweet chestnut on an open fire....with liquorice and earthy notes. I like this one! A little further on, I get a fruit brandy (German Williams schnapps), flavour, which is quite sweet. Final 3rd, still getting pepper, but now hotter on the tongue.... still very enjoyable, but losing the sweeter notes- becoming earthy, with looong finish and..... Ooh... it’s gone out!! Relight, and all is good... I just took too long between draws🙄. I’m pairing this one with a bourbon 🥃... Woodford Reserve, which goes really well with its sweet Finish. All in all, a good cigar for the price, and well worth trying. Rate on its own merit as 89-91 Aj.

Dark, powerful cigar. Very nice coffee flavours. Quite a strong smoke, left me fairly lightheaded.

Incredible cigar. Extremely aromatic - perfume, spices, wood. Lots of chocolate, cashews, almonds, cream. Best non-cuban Ive tried (Ive tried loads). Smoked straight out of box.

Great quality and value cigar for the price point. Im just smoking it in the afternoon with a glass of Argentinean red wine. The cigar compliments the dry oakiness and rich frutiness of the wine. The cigar is dark coca, smooth, rich and dry earth aromatic and a good burn and construction. Brilliant white Ash. Circa 1 hour and a half burn time.

If I have a "go to" cigar this is the one.I can’t speak highly enough of it.Rustic looking and not the prettiest thing you'll ever see,for sure, but that's an irrelavancy here.Always expertly constructed and always very, very flavourful. As has already been said,it does have a very loose draw so you must baby it somewhat but you're well rewarded. Spicy pepper in the opening which settles in to chocolate, coffee,an occasional note of things like cinnamon and even a caramel creaminess in there sometimes. The absolute definition of a satisfying smoke that you can just kick back with and relax after a hard day’s work and the one cigar that I make sure to never run low on. It'll be something that the Cuban "snobs" would have me up for as a heretic but,to my tastes at least,Nicaraguan tobacco and the best of their cigars (the puros) has caught up to a lot of what's coming out of Cuba just now and in some cases even surpassed it!! The range of QC amongst Cuban cigars is still far too large. You really do need to have a good relationship with a quality merchant or you risk getting a box

Pre light aroma is a faint coco and barn yard type smell. For this cigar I used a punch cutter and disscovered this isn't the best cutter to use as there is only one cap so make sure you use a guillotine cutter to prevent the cap and wrapper from cracking. After I had removed the tobacco from the cap I took a draw which was excellent with only a touch resistance. First light flavours is a straight aged tobacco core with a hint of pepper on the retro hail the finish Carrys the tobacco taste and slowly develops into a creamy type of note. Second third draw reveals a sweet coco and caramel on the draw with a slight pepper. The finish is still a creamy aged tobacco Final third the coco has faded off with the caramel and cream on the draw the cream Carrys over to the finish along with age tobacco finished off with a slight liquorice. Overall I love this stick full of rich desert like flavours the body is medium ash holding 2inch at a time with no burn problems.
