Description

Octomore is the super-heavily peated single malt produced by Bruichladdich distillery, the most routinely heavily peated in the world.

The whisky is named after the farm of the same name, located on a hillside north of the town of Port Charlotte. Having been traditionally an un-peated single malt due to the needs of its former owners for their blends, Murray McDavid were quick to diversify the Bruichladdich portfolio, also introducing the more lightly peated Port Charlotte and Lochindaal.

The original Futures release, this was distilled on the 16th October 2002 and bottled in April 2008.

This 5 year old Octomore was matured exclusively in Buffalo Trace bourbon casks, peated to 80.5ppm.

One of 9,600 bottles - each individually numbered with this bottle number 2005 of 9600.

Please note as this is a vintage bottle, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary - Some years can vary as estimations only (example: estimated 1970s/80s).

Tasting Notes

Nose: The spirit glows with all the warmth of a peat fire on a stormy winters night, it reaches deep into the soul with a youthful passion that can only come from an Islay spirit.

Palate: The flavours are of the west coast and its characteristics wild and untamed.

Finish: There is also the coming together of the sweetness from mellow oak, the fruitiness of ultra slow distillation, the crispness of Scottish barley and the fresh marine notes that remain with you throughout the tasting experience.
