Montecristo is the best known and probably most appreciated brand of Habanos throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Habanos smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from the hero of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel 'The Count of Montecristo,' which was a firm favourite when read by the Lector to the Torcedores (cigar makers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast's needs.

The cigars are individually wrapped in protective cellophane to help maintain their perfect smoking condition. Machine made in Cuba. Tobacco originates from the same family as Cuban Minis and like them contain only the finest tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba, the best tobacco growing land in the world.

Tasting Notes

Montecristo puritos are the ideal choice for the smoker of mainstream cigars who wish to "upgrade" without a major leap in cost, or for the premium cigar smoker who would like to enjoy the unique taste of aroma of Cuban Tobacco During their now much briefer alfresco smoking breaks.

As a new cigar smoker I have been trying a range of cigars and it was suggested I give these a go. The first one out the pack was rubbish. It looked and tasted like an old stick, was very loose and fell to bits after a short time. However, the rest have been really good. Nicely flavoured from start to finish and for less than £6 a pack, worth a try. I'll give them 3 out of 5 stars because for the ever shortening lunch break they are ideal. (And at this price I don't even mind if I hand one or two out)

Ok, not bad for the price but would definately go for the Guantanamera Puritos, over these any day.

Hmmm... Not liking these too much. Hot, tarry throat killers with nowhere near as much flavour as I'd hoped. Probably something best left to the kind of folk who enjoy Woodbine and Fisherman's Friend in equal measure...
