Here we have a limited release of Kentucky rye whiskey.
This limited bottling of Michter's straight rye whiskey has been finished in a toasted barrel (as opposed to charred) made from 24 month air-dried wood.
At just under 55% abv on average, it packs a punch. Delicate chocolate balances those rye spice notes; the finish has a pleasing, complex hint of burned brown sugar.
Each bottle has come from a single barrel and bottled at 108.8 proof or 54.4%.
Please note, stock is limited from secondary market releases.
Nose: Instant warmth, bold rye spice mixed with a touch of maple sweetness.
Palate: Relative to the nose, found this rye to be pretty simple. Spicy, with a touch of caramel of oak and some nuttiness characteristic of the toasted barrel finishes.
Finish: There’s a lingering finish, possibly with some roasted marshmallow at the very end.
