Description

A miniature bottle of Mackinlay's VOB blended Scotch whisky, matured and blended in Scotland by Charles Mackinlay and Co. Limited.

Please note, there is no size stated on the labels, but this appears to be a 5cl bottle.

Charles Mackinlay and Co. was established as a wine merchant in Leith in 1815 and was run as a family firm for five generations.

Charles Mackinlay began as an agent for MacFarlane's (proprietor of Port Dundas distillery) and launched his own proprietary whisky brands beginning with Mackinlay's Vatted Old Ben Vorlich and The Original Mackinlay, followed by Mackinlay's Legacy and VOB (Very Old Blended) in the early 20th century.

The firm's family ownership ended in 1961 when it was purchased by Scottish Newcastle Breweries Ltd.

We estimate this was bottled in the 1950s to 1960s.

Please note as this is a vintage miniature, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary - Some years can vary as estimations only (example: estimated 1970s/80s).

Tasting Notes

Nose: Delicate aromas of crushed apple, pear as the spirit itself is exciting and vibrant with attractive notes of oak shavings that release hints of buttery vanilla, creamy caramel and nutmeg.

Palate: These enticing flavours linger lovingly on the palate but are soon combined by a sensual, complex array of creme brulee, orange rind and freshly baked bread.

Finish: A remarkable whisky full of tantalising taste sensations which truly rewards the palate.
