DREW ESTATE

The Drew Estate story is one of daring, heartbreak & success but, most of all, one of passion for cigars and the country of Nicaragua, where we have been making cigars since 1996.

Jonathan Drew & Marvin Samel are not your average cigar makers, their story does not start in Cuba, or with fathers in the cigar business. It started with a dream, and through their can-do spirit and never-say-die attitude made Drew Estate one of the premier cigar manufacturers on the planet. The two frat brothers from New York started out small…. Small, as in a 16 square foot retail kiosk in the World Trade Center in NYC.

In late 1998, Jonathan Drew moved to Esteli, Nicaragua with the hopes of starting a rebirth in the cigar world. With a handful of rollers and an even smaller handful of money, the story of “That Crazy Gringo” began.

MUWAT

"The MUWAT story began on the very first final consumer blending session at the Joya de Nicaragua factory in late 2010 during a Cigar Safari tour. After conducting blending sessions for the previous 3 years at the Drew Estate factory we were amped up to extend the concept to JDN.

I worked with the JDN team utilizing DE tobaccos, including a San Andreas Negro Wrapper, Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade Binder and hearty Brazilian Mata Fina Filler, coupled with Nicaraguan fillers provided by JDN. The blend proved to be rich and earthy, with a bright, sweet undertone. As months of blending passed, I felt this blend was most noble in the 6×60 format and began calling this cigar “MUWAT”. We all had a good laugh at the name, but when I went back to their factory to pick up the round of 50 sticks, the brand was officially born."

Enjoy the “MUWAT”!

– Jonathan Drew

the first 1/4 inch is so bitter that it came close to ruining my taste buds. then the next two inch's follow that are almost flavourless. the last inch and a half are ok, but just ok. For £8.50 I would have rather spent the extra 40p and had a Bolivar jr or a Ramon Allones small club. would only smoke again if that's was all that was left.............
