Daftmill 2009 #26 Ex First Fill Oloroso Finish - 60.2% 70cl

Daftmill Distillery is one of Scotland's newer single malt Scotch whisky distilleries, located in the heart of Fife, in a converted barn at Daftmill Farm.

In 2005, the distillery was granted a licence to produce whisky and the first whisky was produced on 16 December 2005.

Built in a converted meal mill and using un-peated malt, Daftmill has a maximum production capacity of only 20,000 litres of alcohol per year, making it a very low volume distillery. Their first release was introduced as Daftmill 2005-12 Year Inaugural Release.

Distilled on the 8th July 2009 and bottled at cask strength using first fill Oloroso sherry cask #26. This is one of only 630 bottles released exclusively for the UK market. 

The barley used in this release was grown on the Daftmill farm's South Field and harvested in the last week of August 2006, before being malted in the summer of 2007.

Bottled in 2022.

Nose: Dry, nutty sherry notes initially, followed by lashings of baking spice. Give the nose some time and dark chocolate, espresso and blackcurrant jelly notes develop.

Palate: A full textured palate brings waves of chocolate orange, tobacco and beeswax before ripe peach and some green fruit notes shine through.

Finish: More spice and coffee lingers on the finish.
