Specially manufactured to celebrate the 5th year of the 12-year cycle in the Chinese calendar, the limited edition pipes Year of the Dragon are the fifth in a series of pipes that represent the Chinese Zodiac signs.
This year’s pipe is a classic Bent in Group 3 (3202) in County and Shell Briar finishes with a hand-cut saddle mouthpiece that bears the famous White Spot.
Each pipe is fitted with a 10mm Sterling Silver band engraved with the zodiac sign of a dragon and is supplied with a specially manufactured soft leather case, which is not available otherwise.
This edition is nominally limited to only 318 pieces worldwide in County finish and 318 pieces in Shell Briar finish.
Since all numbers containing the digit ‘4’ pipe have been excluded (‘4’ stands for death in various Asian countries), there are actually only 259 pipes per finish being manufactured, of which only 258 pieces will be offered for sale. The edition number ‘1’ will be kept in the White Spot archive.
A little history of Alfred Dunhill:
In 1915, the famous white spot pipe range was introduced when customers had trouble knowing which way to insert the handmade vulcanite mouthpieces, In solution of this Alfred Dunhill ordered white spots to be placed on the upper side of the stem. This would now become a trademark of Dunhill pipes and the “white spot” soon became known as a symbol of quality.
Comes complete in a White Spot pouch and box.
This pipe has been individually photographed, so that the pipe you see in the picture is the pipe you will receive.
