Description Ref # DUN820

The Tutankhamun pipes have been created and manufactured to celebrate the centenary of the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922.

The Tutankhamun pipe is a Diplomat shape in Group 5 (5128).

The pipe is mounted with a hand-sculpted precious metal Tutankhamun windshield, in solid Sterling Silver and is mounted with matching bands. The beard of the windshield serves as handle to lift the windshield.

The silver windshield pipes are accompanied by a solid Sterling silver tamper in shape of richly decorated sarcophagus of the Pharaoh, whereas for the 9ct Gold version the Sterling silver tamper has been gold-plated (Vermeil).

The highly collectable Tutankhamun pipes & tampers are presented in a prestigious leather-bound book and come with a numbered and hand-signed limited edition certificate.

This series is strictly limited to world-wide only 100 pipes:

  • -  10 pipes in Amber Root (with 9ct Gold windshield & Vermeil tamper)

  • -  15 pipes in Bruyere (with Sterling silver windshield & tamper)

  • -  25 pipes in Cumberland (with Sterling silver windshield & tamper)

  • -  25 pipes in County (with Sterling silver windshield & tamper)

  • -  25 pipes in Shell Briar (with Sterling silver windshield & tamper)
The No.1 editions are, as always, not for sale and will be kept in our White Spot archive.

This is pipe number 25 out of 25.

A little history of Alfred Dunhill:

Alfred Dunhill, famous for supplying briar smoking pipes to the most elite clientele in the world since 1904.
He had only two principles that would guide the production of Dunhill Pipes:

Firstly: pipes would be made of only the finest quality briar, with exacting care by expert craftsmen.
Secondly: the pipes would be priced accordingly so that the customer would recognise the value of a product.
The Dunhill pipe is made to last a lifetime. The pipe smokes well and continues to do so with age.

In 1915, the famous white spot pipe range was introduced when customers had trouble knowing which way to insert the handmade vulcanite mouthpieces, In solution of this Alfred Dunhill ordered white spots to be placed on the upper side of the stem. This would now become a trademark of Dunhill pipes and the “white spot” soon became known as a symbol of quality.

Comes complete in a White Spot pouch and box.

This pipe has been individually photographed, so that the pipe you see in the picture is the pipe you will receive.
