Montecristo is the best known and probably most appreciated brand of Habanos throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Habanos smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from the hero of Alexandre Dumas' famous novel 'The Count of Montecristo,' which was a firm favourite when read by the Lector to the Torcedores (cigar makers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast's needs.

The cigars are individually wrapped in protective cellophane to help maintain their perfect smoking condition. Machine made in Cuba. Tobacco originates from the same family as Cuban Minis and like them contain only the finest tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba, the best tobacco growing land in the world.

Tasting Notes

Montecristo puritos are the ideal choice for the smoker of mainstream cigars who wish to "upgrade" without a major leap in cost, or for the premium cigar smoker who would like to enjoy the unique taste of aroma of Cuban Tobacco During their now much briefer alfresco smoking breaks.

A proper cuban cigar in a small stick. Full of strong complex flavours and wonderful aroma. They also seem to have a "rustic" build to them even though they are machine made. The foot of the cigar was slimmer than the other end which I found odd but quite liked it at the same time. The only negative side to them is that they go out very easily. I found myself relighting about 3 times per cigar. Nevertheless I will be buying more of these from Cgars in future and I suggest at least giving them a try!

Spicy little one, Cuban tobacco flavours, did get very hot halfway down couldn't smoke last 3inchs as burned my lips, took my time with them as well so construction wasn't as good as some other machine made Puritos, but if you like full Cuban flavour it's a Google 15/20 min before yer get to the hot spot, not bad price. But as usual a 1st class service from cgars.

These little beauties have become my daily Cuban pleasure. What's not to like about the sweet, smooth coffee flavour all crammed into a 20-30 mins of pure relaxation. When you compare them at the same or similar priced Newsagent dross they are fabulous. It's just a shame that British shops/newsagents don't stock them like they do in Dubai where I first had the pleasure of trying them at the amazing price of less than a fiver a pack. Still great value from CGars though at £7. What a bargain!

Very pleased with these. Until today, the R & J Puritos were my go to everyday smoke. But I will deffo be buying more of these. As a real novice to cigars, I was very impressed. Looking forward to the day when I can truly enjoy one of the larger gauge Montecristos. The journey is set up nicely after finding these little chaps.

This is an excellent purito sized cigar and is certainly the best way to enjoy an authentic Habano when time is limited. It is certainly not in the same league flavour wise as the full guage Montecristos but it is not trying to be. Despite its size, the flavour is still sweet rich and complex and for the price it is well deserving of five stars. The trick in smoking a Montecristo club, mini or purito is to draw light and slow so as not to overheat the tobacco. A Montecristo mini, club or purito are all great cigars to enjoy with a Columbian Arabica in the morning.
