Herman Upmann was a banker from Germany who so loved Cuban cigars that he moved to Havana in 1844 and set up as both banker and cigar maker. His bank closed in the early 1920's but his cigars live on as a fine example of an elegant, light to medium flavoured Habano.

H. Upmann's blend is composed exclusively of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone.

Gold medals in no less than eleven international exhibitions during the 19th Century can be found on the brand's labelled boxes.

Tasting Notes

This cigar is creamy with hints of coffee and some nutty flavours as well. This small havana promises to have a good future. Attractive, good draw, thick smoke with complex flavors for such a small cigar. Simply excellent.

For those of you who think the terms "small cigar" and "bad cigar" are the same, try one of these and change your mind. The Upmann Coronas Junior is an extremely pleasant light yet flavour filled smoke which seems to go on for longer than you`d expect from a small cigar. Plenty of cedar and wood in there, never overwhelming - a quality smoke which is highly enjoyable any time of day, and a lot more enjoyable than many of its` oversized Cuban cousins. Well. I like `em. JFK liked `em. What more recommendation do you want ? :) Forget the predjudices about small cigars and these aer a great (cheap) smoke. 4/5. Excellent. written by Dave Francis

A pleasnt smoked with a rounded, almost tantalising aroma. Some cedar and nuts in its flavour. Even burn for the size and consistent throughout. written by Mihai

Not bad, this one! Nutty, almost sweet like coconut, with just an ounce of spice. Plenty of smoke, nicely constructed. Nice even burn. written by PAC

A very mild taste with plenty of sweetness, not too heavy. Gorgeous scent. A nice way to kill an hour. Only good for 2 inches. written by nsrdude

I bought this cigar in a high street shop rather than a proper tobacconist and I have suspicions about the ‘humidor’ it came from as well. As such it is likely that this cigar would have been much better if it had been kept better. As it was, I found it rather bland. Occasionally I got a whiff of a flavour but it was gone before I had a chance to work out what it was. The draw was pretty good and burn was consistent although the ash looked a little odd. This was a pity because it smelt amazing pre-light and I had hoped for so much more. written by Chuckles
