If there is one particularly famous cigar factory in Havana, it is Partagas. The factory was opened in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagas and it has been making the cigars that bear his name ever since.

A Partagas is immediately recognisable by its deep, earthly flavour. The character of its blend springs from a selection of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone and chosen for their unmistakable richness of flavour and aroma.

Partagas come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes notably the Lusitania and the 8-9-8, a cigar that is named after the way it is arranged in its box.

Tasting Notes

Strong and well balanced with a rich aroma and flavour. Very good combustion and draw. Simply perfect.

One of the best constructed and smoother cigar of the Partagas family. Some believe that was the personal favourite of Ernesto \Che\ Guevara. David - C.Gars Ltd Cigar Ambassador

I'm a new cigar smoker, only having been smoking for 2-3 years now and I usually stick to mild cigars such as Monte #3. I tried this after hearing good things about it and boy does it hit hard! Started off medium with strong notes of toast, bran and leather. After the first 1/3 it really turned up another level, the power increasing to full bodied leather and wood, a bit of spice creeping in also. The strength really hit me, like someone had punched me in the back of the head, not unpleasant but not what I am used to. Finished off still strong but not harsh or bitter, the toasty bran coming back for a second appearence before the finish. Great cigar for those who like full strength cubans, now I just need to lay down for a while!

A wonderful cigar with plenty of character. Enormously complex flavours of nuts, with an undercurrent of coffee. More woody than any other cigar Ive had. This cigar will age as good or better than any. written by Michael

I found this to be definitely a medium strength cigar with very good burning qualities and reasonably easy draw. I remember hints of nuts in its flavour alomg with a delicate aroma. It may well go nicely after a power-lunch, but the after-dinner one with some port is my favourite circumstance. The 8-9-8 is one of my strongest candidates for such occasions. written by Mihai
