Stalla Dhu Speyside - 70cl 40%

Great little Speyside whisky, spot on, very good example of this style of whisky.
Would definitely buy for my self and would thoroughly recommend for anyone new to the Speyside offerings. Indeed, it is a good whisky for anyone relatively new to the spirit and a safe bet if purchasing for someone else.

Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto Cigar - 1 Single

Fantastic cigar! This is by far one of my favourite smokes to date, it had an easy draw, delicious flavoures thoughout and was light a sweet. I would highly recommend it, especially, to anyone just starting out.

I liked these. Nice shape for light and cool smoke. Nothing to write home about but no complaints either, maybe a tad bland. But for the price...

Not impressed. Quite loose so the ash is flakey and falls. Has a polystyrene feel to them. Lacks flavour and doesnt smell nice.

Appearance, wonderful. Medium oily wrapper, drawing me in to a luxuriant experience. Had one of these babies, to quote an American euphemism, last night. Impossible to evaluate, due to non existent draw. Tonight, from the same box, a tad better, but still very, very tight on the draw. Half way down, it opened up to a point that it was almost enjoyable.
Smoking Habanos, of which I have a couple of hundred in my humidor, has now become hit and miss.
I believe that the people who can change this have become complacent, which, for the consumer is highly undesirable.
Now, down to the final third.Draw much better and wonderful Partagas flavours...very complex.
Plumes of smoke..just what is needed to reaffirm my belief in Havana cigars at present.
What could have been a great cigar is let down by by the employment of questionable rollers on site.
I guess I’ll have to continue to play Russian Roulette and hope that one day, my dream cigar will manifest itself.

Very disappointed with this one, but its a learning curve to a new smoker. The draw on this was FAR too tight to get any flavour profiles, occasionally I had a hint of what it had to offer, but unfortunately this was marred by the tightness and lack of smoke. This was a real shame, especially for 11 pounds, as the little hints of flavour were very enjoyable. But at least I know to avoid it in the future.
