Oliva Serie G Cameroon Cigar - Tin of 5
Date Added: Sunday 21 March, 2021
Oliva are a great cigar brand and these are exceptionally good value for money. I like to have one of these when I am short on time. I have sampled various machine rolled cigars and never fully enjoy them! These being hand made just make them all the better!

Trinidad Esmeralda Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Sunday 21 March, 2021
Mellow, toasty and creamy are the buzzwords here. The first third is almost like a palate limberer for the main event -its mild and creamy. As the cigar develops it generates nutty, chocolatey and salty flavours. The quality is outstanding and the light wrapper expertly stays together throughout; the burn rate is consistent and symmetrical and only required two assisting burns with a lighter to bring back. The final third encompasses some coffee, floral and pepper notes to the ensemble. My palate craves something with a little more ‘bite’, but this is a wonderful cigar. Light, mild, tasty and a great foray into Cuban cigars for a beginner.

Ramon Allones Specially Selected Cigar - 1 Single

OMG!!! I bought this after tempting myself to consider taking Masters of Havana Cigars over on the Hunters & Frankau website. After wondering for what seemed like an age, i couldnt find any where that you could apply or sign up to a course. A bit frustrated I wandered through the section staring those who had already taken it (the list was short). What stood out as odd was the number of those who in their bio recommended this cigar as one of their personal favourites. ok.... let see what the fuss is about. yes..yes.. we can all get a dodgy cuban where the draw sucks or its a touch uneven, it doesnt mean to write off the whole brand. I lucked out on this one. The draw was slightly easy (my fav), the initial smoke was creamy and light cocoa. As I carried on the flavours didnt change much but they did intensify, coffee notes and a savoury sweetness. As I got close to the end a quicker draw pulled out some of the chilli pepper spice, but a slower draw revealed a gentler side. Stupidly good from start to finish. i now have to buy more to lay down and see if 2 to 5 years does a

Samuel Gawith Skiff Mixture Pipe Tobacco 50g (Tin)
Date Added: Saturday 20 March, 2021
I’ll be honest, I was kinda looking for a pipe tobacco that had that “French” cigarette taste to it and I thought this might be it. It’s not, but that’s not to say I was disappointed. There’s a rich warmth to the Latakia and it’s given a spicy edge by the Izmir, however it’s blended so that all the tobaccos have their say without shouting over each other. Personally I prefer this in a small bowl not because it’s too strong but because it’s all you need to get everything out of this (my opinion only) also I’m a bit of a puffer and that can make the last of a big bowl a little bitter for me personally. I’m gonna try this half and half with SG Perfection, I think it’ll be very interesting.

Charatan Rolls Pipe Tobacco 50g Tin (Dunhill Deluxe Navy Rolls)
Date Added: Saturday 20 March, 2021
I can’t answer for the Dunhill original Rolls but I have tried the Peterson DeLux Navy Roll incarnation. The two are supposed to be versions of the same blend but there are some notable differences. Charatan Rolls seem to have a more peppery Perique that comes through from the start and the Virginia is a little grassier and hay like (just my opinion). The Peterson version is more fruity, figgy and date like and that stays with you longer in the bowl, and it’s lighter on the pepper than the Charatan version. Both are top notch VaPers and imho it depends on what you’re after, pepper and spice or complex fruits. For me it’s the latter but that’s not to say I’m not going to enjoy every bowl of this Charatan blend.

Samuel Gawith Perfection Mixture Pipe Tobacco 50g (Tin)
Date Added: Saturday 20 March, 2021
SG Perfection! Is it? Well it’s pretty darn close. SG really nailed the proportions on this blend and the quality. The aroma out of the tin is amazing, if you like oriental blends this really is a must. The vanilla is hiding in the background popping up only to sweeten the bowl ever so slightly. It complements the Latakia perfectly, marrying the different tobaccos into....... well, perfection. Before you pack your bowl take the time to handle it and take in the beautiful aromas and then sit back and enjoy. Goes great with a glass of rum or whisky, or not.
