H. Upmann No. 2 Cigar - 1 Single

The H. Upmann No. 2 felt like a really classic Cuban experience for me. Right from the start, there was that signature smoothness—cedar, light spice, and a creamy texture that made it very approachable. The draw was just right, offering a steady flow of aromatic smoke. Flavor-wise, it had a nice balance of wood, earth, and a touch of nuttiness. About halfway through, I noticed a floral note along with some sweetness that kept things interesting. The burn line wasn’t perfect, but it corrected itself without much effort. What stood out most was how refined it felt—everything was in harmony, with no harshness or bitterness. Compared to some of the stronger Nicaraguan smokes I’ve tried, this felt more subtle and elegant, though still full of character. By the final third, the flavors deepened, with more earth and spice, but it never lost its smoothness. This cigar gave me a real sense of Cuban tradition and why brands like H. Upmann are so respected. I’d definitely keep a few of these on hand for when I want something classic and dependable.

The Hoyo de Monterrey Depute might be one of my favorite Cuban so far. It’s often described as light in strength but rich in flavor, and I found that to be spot on. From the first puff, I was met with a creamy smoothness, with flavors of cedar, honey, and a touch of floral sweetness. It felt elegant and approachable, never overpowering but always interesting. The construction was excellent—an even burn, perfect draw, and plenty of smoke. Midway, the flavors opened up more, with hints of nuts and a subtle citrus note that added freshness. The aroma was beautiful too—sweet, woody, and inviting. I really enjoyed how this cigar managed to stay light yet complex; it never felt flat or boring, and it was easy to smoke slowly and savor. By the final third, it developed a little more spice and depth, rounding off the experience nicely. For me, this is the kind of cigar that feels timeless—refined, smooth, and always enjoyable. It’s the one I’d recommend to any beginner who wants to experience Cuban quality without being overwhelmed.

The Rocky Patel Seed to Smoke Classic Toro is a really enjoyable, nice sized cigar that feels top quality from start to finish. It’s well built, burns evenly, and gives off a smooth, balanced flavour that keeps you interested the whole way through. It’s the kind of cigar you can properly relax with, big enough to last a good while without ever feeling heavy or harsh.
For what it costs, it’s excellent value for money and easily stands up to cigars that sell for a lot more. A solid, reliable smoke that shows just how good Rocky Patel’s craftsmanship can be.
