I have to apologize for what I am about to do, but it is so very apropos of this cigar: "Between sips, what pure aroma Rises from a steaming cup of coffee, Between puffs on a delicious Havana: The two compliment each other, And both our characters Sit in savory dialogue Discussing questions Of field and farming" Ricardo del Monte (1828-1909)
Made in the Lazaro Pena factory in Havana, located at San Carlos 816 (I mention the address in the hope that anyone who gets to Havana will go there and tell whoever is in charge how much I enjoy this vitola), this cigar is unique in flavor and an absolute must for every smoker of Puros. A perfect 5 x 48 (127 x 19), this cigar is a marvel of construction, and the paradigm of what a robusto ought to be. Every one I received was rolled to perfection. Upon opening the box I got a whiff of Nirvana to come; you hear about the "interesting" smell of a box of Cubans, but this is the one that sets the example for the rest.

The first time I did a tasting note on this cigar I was rife with enthusiasm and a poetic line came to mind. I promised myself that if I were to revisit this cigar I would be less profuse in my praise. Sorry. Again, if you want any changes let me know.
As I opened my box of ERD Choix Supreme, boxed in February, 2000, I was transported back to Havana, at La Bodeguita del Medio. It is January, 1999 and I am sitting beneath a bit of graffiti written by Salvador Allende, "Cuba is free, Chile waits." Overpriced food and moderately decent mojitos are served. Back home my wife is fuming over my trip. I am mindful of what Kipling wrote in The Betrothed: "For Maggie has written a letter to give me my choice between The wee little whimpering Love and the great god Nick O'Teen." My choice was clear, light up a 'choice' cigar and, thus, I lit a Choix Supreme.
Although most consider this a Robusto, it is actually a Hermoso No. 4. Its ring gauge is 48 whereas a Robusto is 50. To the well trained eye (i.e., my ruler) you can tell the Hermoso

Bought one of these as a progression from the smaller Hamlets I have smoked for a while. As a novice and wanting to start a small collection i thought i would give the La Invicta brand a try. They are mild to medium and have a burn of around 15 mins, so perfect with a glass of your fave drink. For less than £3 they wont break the bank, and are well worth the money, hoping to try a larger ring Gage from this brand as i have enjoyed it so much.

I smoked this cigar accompanied with some 7 year old Havana Club: what a perfect combination! Medium flavour and slightly lighter strength than the 2 larger sizes but no less pleasing. The blend reminds me somewhat of the smaller Romeos although it does retain a reasonably distinct flavour. Medium colorado maduro wrappers, smooth and relatively vein free. A decent daytime smoke. If you like the Cuaba Tradicionales you may wish to try: Punch Petit Corona and H. Upmann Gran Corona.

I'm relatively new to the world of cigars in that I have only been smoking them for about 3 years. Previously, I had been a pipe smoker, and felt I needed a change.
A co-worker turned me on to the world of cigars in May of 2000, and I've never looked back. He and his wife both smoke cigars, and it wasn't long before they gave me my first Cuban as a gift for some work I'd done for them earlier that same year.
Since then I have been smoking Cuban cigars on a regular basis, as money will allow. Six months ago another friend gave me one of a bunch of Cuaba Salomones he had purchased from CgarsLtd. He seemed very excited about his purchase, and insisted that I try one and tell him what I thought. Please find below my impressions on this figurado:
Size: This cigar measures an impressive 7 1/4 x 49, and is shaped in the figurado style.
Appearance: The wrapper is smooth and silky with the slightest impression of small veins. The color was a nice medium brown much like nicely tanned leather.
Feel: The cigar was firm to the touch,

I received 3 beautiful Cuaba Exclusivos from C.GARS Ltd ahead of the holidays. I enjoyed these on two separate occasions. One was smoked on a cool, clear night with a good book (and a nice glass of Balvenie) and the others later in a mini holiday herf with a fellow Cigar Family member (thanks Deadeye). This is a brand that I am quite familiar with as I am a fan of perfectos and have had the opportunity to smoke several sizes in this line over roughly the past 2 years.
What first struck me was the fine reddish/brown wrappers that included a nice somewhat silky sheen. This surprised me a bit as these had just made a long voyage to reach me and some of the Exclusivos I had smoked in early 1998 had wrappers that were far more rustic. All three were reasonably uniform in construction (or as much as one would expect in a perfecto shaped cigar). There were a few minor bumps and veins but no real soft spots and again their appearance was considerably better than had been the case with Exclusivos I had smoked some 6-9 months earlier.
