Davidoff Winston Churchill The Late Hour Churchill Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Tuesday 30 January, 2018
The entire Winston Churchill selection from Davidoff is worth experiencing but Late Hour shaped to be something special from the get go. Between the robusto and its longer brethren it is the Churchill that provides the definitive smoke largely due to the size and the impressive physical statue. Pleasure derived from cutting and lighting up this cigar as well as simply handling its deep brown coloured wrapper and the sheer weight of the stick itself is somewhat majestic. This smoker would certainly agree with some other opinions that the taste is consistent throughout its lenght with coffee and chocolate persistent but enveloped in unmistakable sharp grain resulting from ageing tobacco in whisky barrels. It is as satisfactory as sipping a good malt and certainly unique. This is one to respect and enjoy in peace and almost katharctic. If not for the immediacy it provokes with its flawless presentation I'd be keen to store and see how it refines in a humidor. Definitely worth ones consideration if the inherent strength and complexity can be overcome for those who prefer milder c

J. Cortes High Class Sumatran Cigar - Blue - Box of 10
Date Added: Sunday 28 January, 2018
I love these little beauties, they are perfect for a mid day smoke when you don't have time to commit to a larger cigar. They last around 30 minutes and are to me a very good stick. They are quite mild in flavour which suits me just fine at mid day, the draw is very good with lots of smoke. When lit they are no trouble at all, good even burn and can be left without the need to relight. Ok they are not Cuban quality, but are non the less quite good, and at just short of £50 for a box of ten I consider them excellent value.

Jose L Piedra Brevas Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Thursday 25 January, 2018
My favourite of the Jose L Piedra cigars I’ve smoked. Smooth and earthy with a slight hint of cocoa. The taste is, in my opinion, very appealing and the burn isn’t too bad. Not perfect by any means but I’ve never needed to relight or correct any uneven burning on one of these. Their only real downside is the construction. Like all JLP cigars they’re rough and flaky, sometimes with a slight curve to the stick. Also, as with all JLPs it would seem, the last 3cm or so get tarry and bitter, but that’s overshadowed by the rest of the stick. I’ve always got a few of these in my humidor. They’re my favourite daily smoke. Much tastier than their cheaper cousins, the Cremas , and not as large as the Cazadores. At 30-45 minutes, I can finish one of these on my lunch break without having to rush. The ash can hold well but I wouldn’t advise letting it get much longer than 3-4cm as it’s prone to drop off and isn’t usually very firm when it does. I give these a 5/5 for taste and 4/5 for burn. They get 2/5 for construction, but overall I give these 5/5 because the price and the flavour will alw

Jose L Piedra Cazadores Cigar - 1 Single

I like these. I brought back a box of 25 from a recent trip abroad. I’ve smoked at least 12-13 so far (only 3 from the box of 25 I bought back), and they have that distinct Cuban background taste typical of all the Cubans that I’ve smoked so far, as well as slightly sweet hints of woodiness. They go well with coffee I find. At 6” with a 43 ring gauge, these bad boys can take a while to get through and rushing them will only ruin the flavour. I like these for those evenings when I know I’m going to have at least an hour and a half to myself to sit back and relax with a smoke. They’re nowhere near as nicely constructed as other Cubans though. They’re rough, and flaky, with enormous veins and sometimes, green spots. They don’t seem to have varied much in terms of taste or the way they smoke. The ash can be dark or light grey, sometimes white and sometimes white speckled with black. It’ll fall off quite easily and isn’t very firm, so I don’t recommend letting it get much longer than 1/4”-1” without rolling the ash off. They don’t burn amazingly evenly either, but they don’t seem

H. Upmann Coronas Major Tubed Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Wednesday 24 January, 2018
I picked up one of these babies at Frankfurt train station on a recent trip to Germany and, having never tried an H. Upmann before, I was pleasantly surprised. The construction seemed almost flawless with a dark, smooth wrapper and an inticing, spicy aroma. It lit easily and held its ash well. The ash dropped off by itself when it was around 3.5cm long. The smoke itself had a lovely smell to it, rich and spicy. I found this to be a very tasty smoke with sweet, fruity earthy notes and a hint of clementine. It lasted me nearly an hour, not including ten minutes I left it and it went out. I’ve read others complaining that these don’t like staying alight but mine only went out when I left it. I really have no complaints with this cigar and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone who likes light to medium strength smokes. On my return journey I picked up another three to put in my humidor. Maybe they’ll get even better!
