Rattrays Red Rapparee Pipe Tobacco 50g Tin (Discontinued)
Date Added: Sunday 15 April, 2018
Red Rapparee is a real hidden gem amongst tobaccos and simply oozes quality. The cut is a mixture of shredded ribbon and what looks like broken/cut flake that combine so the pipe almost seems to pack itself, it really is a joy. The moisture is perfect for smoking straight out of the tin and the tobaccos seem to have some age on them compared with the way too young Dunhill offerings of late. As to flavour, I would put it bang in the middle between Dunhill Early Morning Pipe and Gawiths Balkan Mixture, as in it has the quality of EMP but all of the flavours are a little more pronounced and the Cavendish adds a little more depth and body making this suitable for all day smoking. As the bowl burns down the flavour edges towards the Balkan Mixture but for me the finish is not as bold or harsh, just really satisfying. This really is a delightful smoke, the Virginias are quality and the Turkish/Oriental leaf add a sweet spicy tang with the Latkia in the background, never overpowering. All these ingredients seem to remain separate somehow, not in a bad way but in a way that lets each flavo

Romeo y Julieta No. 3 Tubed Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Thursday 12 April, 2018
My first Romeo y Julieta N°3. It was a pleasant smoke that was not strong, earthy for the 1st 1/3 then light and creamy for the 2/3. The last 1/3 was strong and the cigar leaf started to unwrap and became very spongy but held. Overall a lovely 30 min smoke which suits a light after dinner smoke. Would buy again to compare to the first.

Romeo y Julieta No. 1 Tubed Cigar - 1 Single

I had a couple of these over Christmas and they are very nice cigars indeed and I don't see how anyone could be disappointed with these. The cigar is very well made with a nice oily wrapper. Burns evenly throughout. There is a pleasant smooth creaminess with dried grass undertone throughout but the overall character changes throughout starting off with caramel, developing to cappuccino/coffee with progressively increasing woody/earthy flavour going toward the end. A delicious cigar and one that you don't have to be a connoisseur to appreciate (I'm not) making it a solid choice as a gift for someone.

Regius Corona Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Wednesday 14 February, 2018
If this cigar was a colour it would be beige. I tried the Regis Corona as an alternative to the Inka Blue which I love. On the positive side it was well constructed, burned evenly if a little quickly. However it tasted of nothing of note. Bitter, a little harsh and just bland. I have some more and will revisit and re-review if the others show any improvement. Not a good first impression.
