Oliva Serie V Double Robusto Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Saturday 08 August, 2020
Slightly harsh at the first light and through the first quarter. Construction looked spot on however it burned unevenly and kept going out, there were some obvious flaws internally with gaps. Predominantly leathery notes throughout not unpleasant but missing the dried fruit cocoa profile mentioned in other reviews. Seems I may have been unlucky and probably would explore other sticks from the brand. Didnt have that, give me more not wanting it to end feeling that I get from say a Alec Bradley Lineage or Nico puro. Not bad but for the money Id probably go for one of the above or asylum robusto which for me are a much more complex and interesting smoke.

Nice looking cigar with no notable imperfections... wrapper had the odd vein or two. Unlit the cigar had that classic Nicaraguan deep earthy tobacco scent. Overall the flavour was good and pretty smooth but not particularly exciting or memorable... the wrapper gives the blend a pleasant but subtle Cuban-esque flavour when smoked. Draw and construction was spot on, although i did need to touch up the burn line several times.

I’m not an experienced cigar smoker and have been exploring Partagas and RyJ range. I took a punt on this based on reviews. It really wasn’t to my taste. Very bitter throughout despite immaculate construction and burn. No sweet notes and not creamy at all. Not a good introduction to the New World cigars. Maybe I just don’t like cigars dominated by bitter mocha flavours.

This is a light smoke, can retrohale the whole draw and it doesnÂ’t burn your sinuses. Great subtle flavour. I found the draw to be perfect. The only issue I had was the construction. It was burning at a 45 degree angle but no matter how often I tried it would just not correct. IÂ’m gonna try another and if it burns right I will get a box. Keep them for morning smokes. I will give it 5 stars as the uneven burn could have been the product of an uneven light. I was being nagged at the time!

For a Madura robusto this was actually a decidedly mild and easygoing smoke. Leathery and spicy at first, but as it developed more complex flavours were evident and it became much sweeter with notes of baked cookie, coffee and cedar. Altogether a pleasant 45-50 minute Saturday afternoon treat. It was a nice addition as the mystery cigar in the May subscription box which I would definitely consider buying more of and I can certainly recommend it as a good all round value for money cigar.

This is my honest review, i bought 2 of these due to the 5* review on here. The draw was so tight for the first half on both to the point i nearly bin them. The taste was spot on, I had mine with a hot chocolate my mouth was in heaven. After taste in my opinion the worst part. It tastes like local anesthetic reminded me of being at the dentist and that the last thing I want to think about when smoking. The burn felt of.
