Nostrano del Brenta Il Doge Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Sunday 16 September, 2018
I bought this cigar as a bit of an experiment. I had heard via youtube you could cut it in half and share or save for later. This I did and what a great result. Smoked them both with an IPA during a chess game, outside in the South Hams. It has woody and leather overtones, some roundness. More of a medium smoke rather than a strong smoke. Great burn, easy draw, each half was approx 10-15 mins. These will travel with me as they are easy to look after along with their boxed stable mate. I will be buying more to share.

I bought this cigar purely on the shape, and thought I would give it a go. Fortune favours the brave:) I really enjoyed it. Definitely medium in Strength, but not strong. The draw was a little tight but not enough to spoil the smoke. I will be buying more.

After purchasing this cigar some time ago, it aged in my humidor for 18 months. I decided to give it a smoke during the nice summer months. Tastes in stages: In the first third the taste is mainly of dark cocoa and black pepper. It is incredibly flavoursome, but also very smooth: no bitterness at all. In the second third the dark cocoa is enhanced with a blast of dark coffee along with a good hint of black pepper. The final third consisted of coffee and leathery notes, the cocoa was much milder but the coffee notes were now joined by a leathery taste along with tge ever present black pepper. The cigar was incredibly smooth from first to last puff, despite the small size the cigar lasted for 1 hour 20 minutes. The burn was even throughout, no touchups required. Certainly one for those that enjoy bolder flavours, overall a fantastic smoke that I highly recommend.

I’m happy to admit that I’m not normally one to smoke anything apart from Cubans. That’s mainly because every non Cuban Has without question been pretty terrible. Even with my pallet developing and some ageing they all burn harsh and taste pretty terrible. This one however bucks that trend. The gauge probably helps but it’s a smooth sweet, creamy chocolate and vanilla from start to finish. Great cigar.

I am new to cigars, so take this review as you will. Its pretty good in my opinion, lasted 24 minutes, at the end it felt spongey. Nice taste too. Ill give it 3 stars, as I think you would be better off buying the Toscano Classicos and cutting them in half (a full one lasted me 1 hour 45 minutes, very slow burning, and similar if not better taste and build quality).
