Jose L Piedra Cazadores Cigar - 1 Single

I bought 5 of these along with 5 Nacionales and 6 Petit Cazadores, and was very disappointed with the Cazadores. None of them burned evenly and the draw was very poor. This is the second time I've bought this cigar, the first being very successful. I don't think, however, that after 4 bad cigars out of 5, I'll waste time on these again. The Nacionales and Petit Cazadores were much better.

Jose L Piedra Conservas Cigar - 1 Single

I purchased a bundle of 25 Conservas 18 months ago. I got through 10 of them initially and have left the other 15 in the humidor.
I would say the construction of the cigar was good compared to the Cazadores which I think has a rougher look. I was not initially impressed with the cigar and considered it a reasonable priced Cuban, not overly sophisticated.
I decided to smoke one tonight and was very impressed with how the cigar had matured over the last 18 months.
The pre-light draw was earthy and gritty, I noticed the draw was looser than I’m used to with more expensive Cuban’s. I put this down to it being a short fill cigar, I feel ageing these cigars does loosen and soften them up a touch. After lighting, I found it to be sweet and leathery, moving on to earthy coffee flavours. Half way through the cigar I found it similar to the monty no 4. The last third of the cigar developed into bitter citrus flavours with a rougher edge. I smoked this stick to the nub and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Get 12 months plus on these and you won’t be dissapounted.

Jose L Piedra Petit Cetros Cigar - 1 Single

I'm new to cigar smoking and road testing a few at the moment but I will be returning to this cigar. I really enjoyed the taste. It is very sweet to begin with but does get spicier. However, mine got quite hard to draw on pretty quickly and I got some fairly serious unravelling past the 2/3. Looking at other reviews it seems that QC might be the problem here. I will be trying this again though, as well as other cigars from Piedra.

It has a smooth and very light taste which is also a bit sweet, but gets somewhat spicy after the half. However, the flavour is just too plain for me. Draw is fairly tight, but you can work with it. Mine lasted about 30 mins. Overall, you get what you pay for, but it is a good everyday smoke for a good price.

THIS WAS A SUPRISE. I was thinking these were not going to be great shakes. I picked some up in cuba a while ago and brilliant they were. There were fantastically inexpensive out there (£2.50). The burn was nice and even. The burn was very slow for that matter. The ash held on well. Flavour wise they were a bit bitter and grassy (young tobacco) but a pleasant flavour profile followed; light spice, cedar, coffee and weirdly mustard (gave a nice little kick). Buy some, put away for 6 months and they will be ace, authentic, cuban smokes. BA HUMBUG to those cigar snobs who turn there nose up to anything that isn't a cohiba or a trinidad (both of which i tried).

Has a really bad experience with the Cazadores, so i wasn't expecting much from this. I'm glad i wasn't. It wasn't as harsh as i'd feared, but it was totally plugged somewhere towards the head, so i had to cut it in the middle and smoke it from there. Found it to be almost just as unpleasant as the other cigar i've tried of this brand, and don't plan on trying them again.
