Fonseca KDT Cadetes Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Saturday 07 September, 2019
Ordered a single to sample and wish I’d ordered at least two now, because this one was a dud. I’ll try not to let it ruin my first impressions, though. It was plugged solid. A firm rolling in my palms didn’t help much, but I took it to the garden with my morning coffee and lit up regardless. On the odd occasion I managed to get some air through it there were pleasant flavours to be had, pretty smooth and light, an ideal morning smoke I think. Not much smoke, the burn was average and the ash didn’t hold well. Determined to enjoy it somehow I ended up chewing the head in a vain attempt to loosen the draw up. Slight pleasant spice on the lips. I’ve heard good things about the larger vitolas so I’ll give them a shot, and may get some more of these in the hope I get a smokable one. Not a reflection on C Gars’ service by the way; they were fantastic and I understand this happens sometimes—it’s a natural handmade product after all.

Tastes nice, quite sweet. Burns evenly, but the draw doesnt fill the mouth as much as Id like. The last third gets bitter towards the end.

Smoked one of these yesterday on the deck, in the sunshine, after a stressful day at work. The cigar had been laying in my humidor for 12 months. What a little beauty these sticks are. Well constructed, great smell and cut without issue. Pre draw offered a pleasing nutty flavour that reappears in final third of smoking. Great oaky, leathery flavours for the first half, then a light chocolate taste in the middle leading to the previously mentioned nutty flavour to finish, almonds actually, very nice. Burn was razor sharp all the way down to nearly burning my fingers. Draw was tight for the first half and opened up after, not in an unpleasant way though. I was surprised at the smoking time, lasted about 80 minutes. I am going to get some more and allow them to rest in the humi for a good while. In summary an excellent, surprising smoke that is truly a bargain.

Nice for the price and I was surprised at the flavours from this stick. Starts with a hint of pepper and spice, then mellows mid way and finishes with a touch more spice. Definitely benefits from time in the humidor.

I was only introduced to cigars about 6 months ago so by no means am I a cigar coniseur, but for me this was a fantastic cigar, the aroma was great, it lit beautifully, burnt evenly, held it’s ash, nice smooth draw and plenty of smoke!! It was without a doubt one of those cigars you don’t want to end!! Such an easy and enjoyable smoke. If your looking for a bigger cigar but don’t want to spend big Cuban prices, then without a doubt find this one a go
