Measuring 4 7/8” x 56 ring gauge, the Topes is familiar to cigar enthusiasts around the world as it was first showcased as a Limited Edition in 2016. The cigar soon disappeared from shelves such was its popularity at the time. Therefore the news of its return was met with great excitement especially as this time, as opposed to being a Limited Edition, it would be joining Trinidad’s standard range.

Trinidad is named after the beautiful 16th Century city of La Santisima Trinidad (The Holy Trinity), listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, which is situated on Cuba's south coast.

Trinidad, as a Habano brand, dates back to 1969 but for many years, like Cohiba, it was made only for gifts to foreign diplomats. Not until 1998 was it released for general sale and then only in small quantities.

At the start there was only one size of Trinidad: Fundadores. In 2003 three more sizes, the Reyes, the Coloniales and the Robusto Extra, were added to the range. At the same time Trinidad's livery and its cigar band were updated to recognise the prestige that the brand commanded. Most recently, in 2009, the Trinidad Robusto T was introduced to complement the brand's range.

For several years Trinidad was made at El Laguito, the Cohiba factory, where its uniquely fragrant and aromatic, medium flavoured blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone was developed.

Tasting Notes

93/100

"Plump and pigtailed, this robusto has a slightly firm draw, but shows an earthy, spicy smoke that unfolds rich notes of macadamia nut, vanilla and toasted almond. Balanced and elegant..."

This cigar with clean draws at the beginning however it requires to correcting a bit as unevenly burns founded after that it produces earthy flavors and has slightly truffles aroma then I found a bit balance if keeping low temperature draws at the final ends I therefore concur it’s a prices to values cigar

Huge and hugely expensive, like most new cigars these days, this blend is dull. Rich, yes, very toasty, earthy...and thats about it for the entire length of the cigar. No evolution at all, no subtlety and not even the best flavour profile. I wouldnt smoke these if they were £25 cigars. The only reason I didnt give this 1/5 was that its not a bad cigar, its just not good or in any way worth its price.

The limited edition version of this cigar were simply the best cigars Ive ever smoked, I’m saving the last 3 from the box I bought for special occasions! When I heard the line was making in to regular production I was excited to say the least. Having smoked one so far I am not disappointed. Although not quite up to the standard of the LE all the flavours are there, I strongly suspect the main difference being the years on it. Fingers crossed Given a few years in the humidor these will reach the level of the LEs

The limited edition 2017 came back to a regular production. The tobacco of the original blend is different and stronger. The new regular production is close to the Vigia in taste but much more smoother. David - C.Gars Ltd Cigar Ambassador

Smoked this cigar today and really enjoyed it. No tight draw. Would highly recommend trying this cigar.
