GURKHA

Steeped in legend and history, the Gurkha Cigar created more than a century ago, was reborn in 1989. The company has continuously rolled out meticulously handcrafted cigars, epitomizing all that is luxury.

Today, Gurkha makes a cigar for all price points and all palates, but when it began, Gurkha cigars were unlike other cigars in the market. They also came in highly ornate packaging and with a steep price tag. Hansotia felt that there was a market for more luxurious and exclusive cigars for those with tastes for only the finer and more elusive products. In focusing on this segment, Hansotia created the ultra premium cigar category.

GHOST GOLD

The Ghost Gold is a medium bodied blend, like the original Ghost. For Ghost Gold, the original Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper leaf has been swapped to a silky-smooth Ecuadorian specimen. Underneath, a Criollo ’98 binder encases U.S., Dominican, and Nicaraguan long-fillers to create a medium-bodied blend that’s ultra-smooth.

Gurkha Ghost Gold was named the #4 Cigar to smoke now by Maxim magazine in May 2019.

Tasting Notes

You’ll find sweet and earthy notes, with hints of black pepper and cinnamon spice joining the mix.

Top smoke. Nice flavour & a slow burn. Will definitely buy again.

The first third is tasteless, but great for when you are having a drink and just want to smoke; its well constructed, easy draw with lots of smoke and doesnt wreck your chest. It does tend to go out, but its huge so that just means you can take a break and relight it and it lasts most of the evening. The flavour really changes as it goes down, more than most cigars. The final few drags have a distinct and powerful flavour that reminds me of blue cheese and is literally the tastiest bit of cigar ive ever had. I smoked a few before leaving this review because initially I thought it must have got mouldy in my humidor, but they are all like this (they do benefit from a rest though, even just a few weeks in the humidor makes a difference). If you like to smoke a cigar down to the bitter end when its almost burning your lips like I do then you get plenty of this really tasty bit, and these babies are well made for doing just that as it doesnt seem to burn too hot at the end. By the way the same flavour thing goes for the robustos except you dont get the flavourless bit at the start, but I still prefer these ones just because they usually last me for a full evening of drinking.

Great cigar, and what a monster. Punched cleanly, and lit easily. A great draw with clouds of creamy white smoke, with great flavours. The construction was great and held together untill the very end. I loved it, and I will be getting more

Rubbish. Seriously rubbish. Flavours are decent if you can get it to burn properly but the burn is the most uneven on a cigar Ive ever seen. The wrapper started unravelling halfway through and it stopped burning several times. Dont waste your money.
