Since 1845 the Robaina family has farmed tobacco continuously on its precious vegas (fields) at Cuchillas de Barbacoa situated in the San Luis district of the Vuelta Abajo tobacco zone.

Vegas Robaina cigars were introduced in 1997 as a tribute to Cuban tobacco farmers through the figurehead of Don Alejandro Robaina whose reputation in his day for producing the finest wrapper leaves was legendary. In effect the brand honours all the annoymous tobacco growers whose knowledge and skill make Habanos what they are today.

Tasting Notes

Fruity flavour, chocolate notes may also be experienced towards the final third. A good draw and not normally tight, with very good construction. Also a great Havana.

"...Silky and tawny, this cigar burns with a rich aroma. It has a creamy coffee taste with dry wood and vanilla bean notes..."

Every once in a while a cigar comes along that really stands out from the rest and this habano is one such cigar - outstanding. My only criticism would be that the end got a little soggy making the draw a bit tight at times although this might have been more from my enthusiasm in smoking it than anything else!

Firm consistency, 1-inch+ ash, beautiful and rich plume, earthy notes and oak/cacao flavors, VERY nice and smooth draw, wish it was bigger so I could enjoy for another 10-15 minutes, still went on to 40-45 minutes with a fine Mauritius spiced rum. Very good choice, recommended.

Now this is a rich cigar. Maybe a little too rich for my tastes. In all its a fantastic cigar. Build is fantastic, lots of lovely plume on the BEAUTIFULLY dark oily wrapper, LOTS of smoke but also slow burning meaning you get a lot of cigar for your money. Flavour wise this reminds me of a great quality Nicaraguan mixed with the strong earthy characteristics of a Bolivar. Lots of cream and cacao but what maybe didnt appeal to me is the strong oaky bitter flavours in the first half. The second half was much smoother with lots of nice dark coffee flavours. Smoked this right down to the nub. An all round good cigar.
