COHIBA

Cohiba is the flagship brand of Habanos.

It was created in 1966 for President Fidel Castro himself and was made at the then top secret, but now world famous, El LLaguito factory. At first, it was only seen outside Cuba as gifts for heads of state and visiting diplomats.

Since 1982 Cohiba has been available in limited quantities to the open market.

The name is an ancient Taino Indian word for the bunches of tobacco leaves that Columbus first saw being smoked by the original inhabitants of Cuba - the earliest known form of a Habano.

The leaves for Cohiba are the "selection of selection" from the 5 finest Vegas de Primera in San Juan y Martinez and San Luis districts of the Vuelta Abajo zone.

Uniquely amongst Habanos up to three of Cohiba's filler leaves , the seco, ligero and the rare medio tiempo, undergo an additional fermentation in barrels. This unique process produces a special aroma and flavour you will only find in Cohiba.

Tasting Notes

As a result of its strength and excellent blend this cigar has become one of the nine true Robustos. One of the most demanded Havanas in the market, a true gem.

94 / 100

"A dark robusto whose hearty core of spice and earth is beautifully accented by notes of nutmeg and cinnamon that intensify and harmonize on the finish to a very satisfying effect..."

Having been a regular satisfied customer of Cgars for many years. I’m now finding the price of Cohibas very expensive in comparison to other reputable websites in the uk. I appreciate the cigars are coming from premium sources but the prices have rocketed which regrettably is forcing me to look elsewhere. I hope prices become more competitive in future because I do like the quality and service.

Have one of these stored in my humidor and thought I’d purchase another on my travel to st James street. Lovely draw and excellent flavor, went out just once but maybe due to the weather, I found this more enjoyable than the siglo family I have stored up. Would highly recommend trying one if you are looking for a 45-60 minute smoke and especially with good company!

This was my second unblemished cohiba! Had a previous tube to store it in as my mini humidor hasn’t come yet. Great first draw and just as blissful as ever. Until we got half way down and didn’t want to stay lit or burn evenly, so had to leave it after a fingers length from the label. Won’t put me off but a bit disappointed as still haven’t had the perfect cohiba robusto from beginning to end, but maybe I’m expecting too much, even for the price :(

Third Cuban I’ve tried to see if it was worth the hype! Unfortunately it was damaged so it didn’t burn evenly so could get the full experience. A bit stronger than the other ones I’ve had but still a nice smooth smoke! Didn’t disappoint for the short time I had it. Would recommend it! Might try it again but been recommended the siglo so will try that next. I am now a convert for Cubans! So my bank balance won’t be happy!

After reading the previous reviews I thought I would add to other comments that Cohiba cigars have been extremely inconsistent this year. I seem to have been fortunate and had a good robusto back in june. Mild, sweet creamy smoke, good draw and no relight needed. Contrast that with the siglo 3 and 5 which i smoked around the same time they were flavourless, constant relighting and very disappointed. I have had a few other cohibas this year which were equally bland and inconsisant in quality. I have had fewer good cohibas than bad and so I have stopped buying them altogether, instead sticking to whatever is rated in top 25 for the year.
