COHIBA

Cohiba is the flagship brand of Habanos.

It was created in 1966 for President Fidel Castro himself and was made at the then top secret, but now world famous, El LLaguito factory. At first, it was only seen outside Cuba as gifts for heads of state and visiting diplomats.

Since 1982 Cohiba has been available in limited quantities to the open market.

The name is an ancient Taino Indian word for the bunches of tobacco leaves that Columbus first saw being smoked by the original inhabitants of Cuba - the earliest known form of a Habano.

The leaves for Cohiba are the "selection of selection" from the 5 finest Vegas de Primera in San Juan y Martinez and San Luis districts of the Vuelta Abajo zone.

Uniquely amongst Habanos up to three of Cohiba's filler leaves , the seco, ligero and the rare medio tiempo, undergo an additional fermentation in barrels. This unique process produces a special aroma and flavour you will only find in Cohiba.

MINIS

Cohiba Minis are an excellent cigar for those with little time on their hands to enjoy a puff of Cuban magic. A full cigar with a flavour which has the greatest prestige in the world of tobacco -machine rolled in Cuba.

The leaves used for the tobacco are taken from the same plants which are harvested for world famous premium hand made Havana cigars. These plants are grown in the Vuelta Abajo region in Cuba, and area located west of the island, which is widely regarded as the finest tobacco growing land in the world.

These seem to be poorer in construction than other minis I have smoked, they often need relighting. They have a decent flavour however I would recommend either Partagas or Montecristo minis, with those the cigars were more consistent and had a better flavour. Still wouldnt turn these down though :)

I had these a while ago, I was happy with them too, they were some really tasty little sticks, I'd buy more if I had easier access to them.

These are a very pleasant and flavorsome mini cigar and should be treated as such draw slowly and you will be rewarded with good taste draw like a cigarette and you will be rewarded with hot bitterness respect the cigar and it will respect you a good 5 to 10 minutes break, the Clubs are a better smoke but are obviously more expensive for a 15 minutes break

I bought these in a Cuban Mini's gift box, alongside the Montecristo's, Romeo y Julieta's and Partagas Mini's. The Cohiba's are nice smoke as far as mini's go. But I find I have to relight them at least once during a smoke, sometimes more. In terms of flavour, they provide a nice hint of a proper Cuban cigar when your short on time. But for me the Romeo's or the Montecristo's mini's provide a better experience and will become my regular ten minute fix.

I bought one packet each of the Cohiba Minis, the Romeo y Julieta Minis and the Cohiba Clubs. The Cohiba Minis and the Romeo y Julieta Minis are exactly the same size, the Cohiba Clubs are somewhat larger - length about 3.25" vs 3.75" and diameter about 7mm vs 8.5mm - so that I would estimate (using the formula for a tube pi x r2 x l) the Clubs are about 70% larger than the Minis in the end. In terms of smoking time, for myself, I find the Minis last maybe 10 minutes at the outside and the Clubs last 15-20 minutes at the outside. The Minis are probably too small. It is difficult to get a mouthful of flavour from them. The Clubs are better in this respect. Neither can compare to a proper sized cigar. Oddly, being somewhat more impressed with Cohibas for flavour generally, I found the Romeo y Julieta Minis had a more rounded and fuller flavour than that of the Cohiba Minis or even, it seems to me, the Cohiba Clubs, even though the Clubs are larger which makes it easier to draw more flavour from them. Of all of them I would suppose the Cohiba Clubs are the best, however if Romeo y Julieta made Clubs, I suppose I would buy those first. written by Lawrence
